Boss / CH-1

Chorus/Delay for 12s

Devices Used:
Electric 12-string guitar
Boss CH-1 Chorus
Boss RV-3 Reverb/Delay
Amp

Sound Description:
While this works well with any electric, I specifically use this for electric 12 strings when arpeggiating chords. It produces a thick, rolling sound with an incredibly rich harmonic content at the high end. With the right setting on your amp (add some top end) and your bridge pickup, the high harmonics will set up a signing, almost pitch bending chorus somewhat independent from (and much higher than) your fundamentals.

Settings:
12-string Guitar into Ch-1 at following settings:

Effects Level -- Max
EQ -- 2:30
Rate -- 11:00
Depth -- Max

The Ch-1 goes into the RV-3 at the following settings:

Balance -- 12:00
Feedback -- 12:00
Delay -- 3:00
Mode -- 7

Your bridge pickup will bring out the full high harmonic content better than the neck pickup. Brighter amp settings help, too. Realistically, most any decent chorus set to a medium speed with full depth should be okay. The RV-3 settings will be harder unless you know that "Mode 7" on a RV-3 is a mixture of "Plate" reverb with delay, the delay rate set by the rate knob at approximately 700-750ms; feedback and balance (depth) settings are right in the middle. This setting is good for ambient/psychotronic David Torn type stuff.
